When Technology Betrays You

Technology let me down today.

Big time.

Years of photos — all gone!

I recently upgraded my phone. Don’t judge me — I waited 2 years before I replaced my unit. I’m past the stage where I felt compelled to upgrade every time a newer model came out.

I transferred all of my photos, music, and ebooks using an app that I’ve been using to transfer content for the longest time. If memory serves me correctly, I’ve used it to transfer data between phones for around 8 years now.

The transfer was successful, although I did notice that all the photos were stored in a different album.

I shrugged my shoulders, thought it was annoying, and that was it.

Well last night, technology puled the rug right under me.

Years of photos. Gone. Not a trace.

It’s not in the Cloud (I distrust saving my stuff in a virtual place).

I installed recovery apps, a different gallery app, went through a file explores, nothing.

Years of memories.

I just can’t wrap my head around it!

I partly blame myself for not having backed up.

I mean, I’ve been doing this for years so what changed?

It just proves that you can never truly trust technology.

And just like that, I see visions of Skynet and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
